March 2026 Subway Works Update

Dear resident/neighbour,

RE: Wymondham subway works update – March 2026

We are writing to update you on the progress of the highway infrastructure works in Wymondham, specifically regarding the upcoming phased closures scheduled for spring 2026.

We would like to acknowledge the incorrect email address that was provided in our previous correspondence to you. We sincerely apologise for this oversight. It is always our intention for all affected residents to receive the correct information so that we can address any questions or concerns directly. You will find the correct details at the end of this letter.

The next stage of the subway works will focus on the diversion of an Anglian Water potable water main and will require phased closures on Station Road. Please be assured that each phase will be clearly signposted within the area, with advance warning provided.

The phased closures are outlined below.:

  • Saturday 28th March to Sunday 12th April 2026 – full road closure
  • Monday 13th April to Sunday 19th April 2026 – partial road closure with traffic management signals between Rightup Lane and Stanleys Lane
  • Monday 20th April to Sunday 26th April 2026 – full road closure

Details of any diversions can be found online via https://one.network/.

In our previous correspondence, we informed you that we were reviewing the current closure of Cemetery Lane to determine when the road can safely be reopened. The road will be closed for the duration of the major drainage and subway-related works, with the reopening of the road anticipated for Thursday 16th July 2026.

Following the completion of our utility diversion works in March and April 2026, the next phase of work will involve raised footpath removal, surface water drainage and the final realignment and resurfacing of the highway on Station Road. We anticipate these works to be undertaken in autumn 2026, and we will write to all residents once the finalised programme of works has been agreed.

As part of the planning obligations of Taylor Wimpey’s and Vistry’s development, highway improvements are also set to be completed in late 2026. The improvements will include a new toucan crossing, which will be implemented as part of the autumn subway works outlined in this letter. Traffic signals will also be installed at the junction of London Road and Station Road. The design for the traffic signals is currently with Norfolk County Council for approval, and we will provide you with a further update once agreed.

Between the 5th and 7th October 2026, we will be undertaking some intensive railway works to reinstate Platform 1 at Wymondham Station. We would like to reassure you that this additional work being completed will not increase the road closures outlined above, however it will involve overnight work. We will work closely with Network Rail to provide residents with further information ahead of the planned works.

We appreciate that these road closures may cause disruption, and we would like to thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete these works. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at [email protected].

Kind regards,

Taylor Wimpey East Anglia and Vistry Group
